Design & analyse lattice communication towers in your browser.

SutranetTower runs a full 3D finite-element analysis of 3-leg and 4-leg lattice towers, computes IS 875 Part 3 wind loads, checks every member to IS 17740:2022 / IS 800:2007, and produces an interactive report — plus a STAAD.Pro export. No install.

What is SutranetTower

Purpose-built engineering software for towers — not a general FE package.

SutranetTower is a web-based structural design and analysis application for lattice communication and transmission towers. You model the tower once — its sections, taper, bracing pattern, antennas and ladder — and the app builds a real 3D lattice, solves it with an OpenSees finite-element engine, and checks every leg, diagonal, horizontal and redundant against the governing Indian standards.

It handles both 3-leg (triangular) and 4-leg (square) cross-sections, derives IS 875 Part 3:2015 wind pressures for each wind direction, adds antenna, ladder, seismic and atmospheric-ice loads, and envelopes all load combinations to find the critical utilisation of each member. Everything runs in the browser — there is nothing to install, and the output is a single interactive report you can share, download as PDF, or export to STAAD.Pro for further work.

In short: the tedious, error-prone parts of tower design — wind tabulation, load combinations, slenderness and capacity checks, connection detailing — done consistently, to code, in minutes.

Capabilities

Everything a tower design needs, in one tool.

From wind tabulation to bolted connections — the full workflow, generic over 3-leg and 4-leg towers.

3D finite-element analysis

A real OpenSees lattice model — every leg, diagonal, horizontal and brace solved in 3D, not a simplified stick approximation.

🌬

IS 875 Part 3:2015 wind

Direction-by-direction wind pressures with the correct force coefficients for flat and round members, triangular and square faces.

IS 17740 / IS 800 checks

Tensile yield and Perry-Robertson buckling, Annex F equivalent slenderness and per-role KL/r limits — tension and compression enveloped separately.

3-leg & 4-leg towers

Triangular and square cross-sections across the whole pipeline, including plan bracing for torsional rigidity on square towers.

📡

Antennas, ladders & trays

Panel and dish antenna wind, dead weight and torsion, plus ladder / cable-tray loads and the Cl. 7.2.2 climber live load.

Seismic & ice loads

Optional IS 1893 seismic base shear and IS 17740 atmospheric-ice effects, auto-gated and enveloped with the wind cases.

🔗

Bolted connection design

Ring-flange, leg-splice and bracing connections with IS 800 §10.2 detailing checks fed the real enveloped demand.

📊

Interactive report + PDF

A self-contained report with a 3D viewer, deflected shape, force colouring, member schedule and capacity tables.

STAAD.Pro export

One-click .std export with load cases and IS-code combinations, so you can carry the model into STAAD.

Standards

Grounded in the Indian codes.

Every load and check traces back to a clause — no black boxes.

IS 875 Part 3:2015
Wind loads on structures — force coefficients, gust factor, directionality.
IS 17740:2022
Communication towers — member capacity, slenderness and detailing.
IS 800:2007
General steel construction — buckling curves, bolt and connection design.
IS 1893 (Part 4)
Seismic design — base shear and storey forces for the optional EQ cases.
Workflow

Model, analyse, report — in three steps.

1

Build the tower

Set the tower type, height and taper, pick a bracing pattern, and add antennas, ladders and site wind — all in a visual builder.

2

Run the analysis

The 3D FE engine solves every wind direction and load combination, checks each member to code, and flags the critical utilisations.

3

Get the report

Review an interactive report with a 3D viewer and member schedule, download the PDF, or export to STAAD.Pro.

Who it's for

Made for the engineers who design towers.

Structural consultants

Turn around tower designs and code checks faster, with a report you can hand to a client or reviewer.

Telecom & infrastructure

Verify existing towers for new antenna loading, or size new masts for a rollout — without a full FE licence.

EPC & fabricators

Optimise member sizes and bracing, then export straight to STAAD.Pro for detailing and fabrication.
